Ir Ithil ammen Eruchîn<br> menel-vîr síla díriel si loth a galadh lasto dîn! A Hîr Ann?n gilthoniel, le linnon im Tinúviel.
Translation:
The Moon, having watched for us Children of Eru shines like a jewel in the sky now flower and tree, listen silent! O Lady of the West, star-kindler, I sing to you, I, Nightingale!
Translated by David Salo officially, in A Gateway to Sindarin. An extant text in Sindarin, part of the "Lay of Leithian" (Recommenced version), Canto III, lines 99-103.
I've loved this verse for as long as I can remember, and since I had the translation, I thought I'd throw it out there...

Oh wow... That's in the Lay?? I've looked for that forever, and just couldn't seem to find it! Now I have to go look! (Lays of Beleriand, correct?)
I love the translation, especially the center three lines. Same with the "si loth a galadh lasto din! A Hir Annun gilthoniel" line.
But as a random point, I remember looking for it because someone had pointed out that grammatical structure of this peice was off somewhere. Is that true?

Yup, it's in the Lays of Beleriand! As for structure... I'm pretty sure it's about as normal as you can get with Elvish... I could be wrong... Ana? Where'd you go? ~ Elwen
