~ Do we always have to ask before taking the content of the site? Or does it depend on what is under consideration? ~ Yes, under most circumstances, you need to request permission to use something, unless it's obvious - like codes for affiliation. Graphics, information, layout, and submission content are among the topics that require permission. Things that have been done purely by idea of an individual cannot be taken without request.

~ Who do I contact to ask permission? ~ In general, contact the site manager. Everything here is her planning and wording, for the most part, so she’s the one to ask. If you wish to use the content of an individual author’s submission, contact that particular author, through email or private messages, not on the message boards. If the author’s email isn’t listed, go through the manager.

~ Can I use the links in your reference section? ~ No, for the simple reason that many of them have been listed by permission of the site owner. If you wish to link to their site, go to their website and find out how to contact them to link. Some of them don’t mind being linked without request, but that’s not at the discretion of :~TOA~:

~ What counts as advertising, and what is okay to link? ~ Advertising would be linking to a personal site, archive, listing, etc. That may go in the advertising board and in a member's profile only. Inappropriate or adult sites may not be linked at any time - depending on severity (i.e. pornographic or severely disturbing), the member responsible may be banned. For example, a site graphically depicting medieval torture methods may not be linked here, no matter the reason UNLESS specific reason is given, permission granted, and a included with a warning. Advertising generic links is perfectly fine - for example, humor links, links to places like Ardalambion or the Thain's Book to explain something in the Tolkien boards, etc. Further questions should be directed to the manager for link approval.
