Any other guitarists out there?
I play Acoustic and Electric both, but would prefer Acoustic any day, whether or not the strings are tougher. I can't claim to be a pro since my brother taught me, but he really does rock, so I can't complain.
I like writing my own music or playing other bands' Acoustic tabs: Ex. Lifehouse, Vertical Horizon, Jars of Clay...
My only complaint is tha it IS impossible to both sing well and play well at the same time (at least for me) so my brother usually plays (since he's way better anyways) and I write and sing.
What I really want to learn are drums, though.
Any other guitarists/singers/musicians around?

I don't play the guitar--I've played around with my cousin's before, but nothing substantial--but I was a pianist for a good seven years or so before I quit, at least on paper... I'm not terribly good on the writing segment, but I can play. A few of my uncles are excellent on a guitar--Acoustic, not Electric--and it's really great to sit and listen to what they can produce... The same cousin plays the drums, as well, and he's good--he listens to a piece and can pretty much reproduce it without anything else.
Lifehouse is a good band, too--I've been looking at one of their CDs.
On the other hand, I do sing, though not publicly--been told I have a good voice, but I rarely work in the rock genre. Singing at all leads me to some classical/opera or some of the more classic pop singers...
Anyway, very random response that was rather off-topic--had no idea you were so involved in music, Skande!

Yep, Lifehouse is definitely one of my favorite bands. I love Acoustic music, and that's primarily what they do.
Lol--I wouldn't call myself *involved* in music, (per se) But I do love it. I like to sing--but *definitely* in private--and I also have been told I have a good voice. But I only ever sing around my immidiate family and closest friends, and of course they're not going to tell me otherwise!
But still, I would love to be in a band someday--maybe as a guitarist, preferably as a singer, since I'm not overconfodant in my musical talent, or at least as a songwriter. That's my favorite aspect of music, which is why I was never much for Instrumental besides Celtic.
I've written maybe a hundred songs, but I've only ever shown one to my family--just to my brother in fact, so he could play and I could sing. It sounded SO much better to really well-played music. :-)
So consequently, my one-person band is still sitting on it's rear as "Stoked". My brother's more into blues and heavier rock and stuff like that, so he'd never be an active part. I'm a Pop/Alternative/Light Rock kind of person. :-)
Anyhoo--that's that. ;-)

Not a guitarist either, but I've played the harp, of all things, for a while, which I loved... With a perpetually strained wrist, I can't play anymore, but it was wonderful while I could. Because I can no longer play, I do actually sing as a performer, though I usually hate any form of public appearance. Locally, I've sung for random groups and we end up having a lot of fun. We reproduced the Evanescence "Fields of Innocence" that I got from Elwen and that was such a blast. Acoustic music is wonderful, but is sometimes compromised by both the genre and the original song. I've found that in songs in the rock (and according) genre(s), the acoustic versions sound excellent, but if the songs are slow to begin with and don't have a lot of background to them, the acoustic versions come out one of two ways: strained, or with too much of a bass undertone. I write songs for a friend of mine, who plays them with yet another friend, so they mix on guitar and drums, which is really fun to see--they make my stuff sound much better than I ever could! ~ Eilian

Wow... That sounds so fun! Lucky you! I would kill to get involved like that...
But unfortunately, my brother is too much of a butt to cooperate when we're playing together, and although I do have another good friend who plays (and is even better than my brother (0_o)) I'd be way too embarassed to show my songs to him. I don't even know how to write a song; how would I know if they stink or not? :-)
Oh well--I can't do everything!

I don't play guitar. Some of my adult friends do, some of them play very well. I play the flute.
