Has anyone heard anything by Loreena McKennit. I love her music. It is very beautiful. It's sort of Celtic like.

Yes, albeit briefly. She's very smooth and the tones she uses are really pleasing. If you're not used to listening to her, she sort of resembles Enya in tone, only she stays with soprano much more often.

Lovely singer. Much of what Elbereth said, so I won't repear it,  but she's really really clear. Her voice reminds me a bit of Haley Westenra - crystal clear soprano. Really nice to listen to. What do you think of the lyrics she uses? ~ Elwen |

I like her lyrics. I haven't heard a song by her I haven't liked. I like the lyrics to The Mystic's Dream.

That's a good song - what she did with the Lady of Shalott is one of my personal favorites; it sounds so nice set to music.
How many CDs does she have out? All I can find is the one from San Francisco...

I think she has nine CDs out. I only own the Book of Secrets. i want to get her other CDs though.

Oh, excellent, excellent singer; as I said, she's one of my favourites. Her music has this pure quality about it that I can almost never find and Celtic music in general really captivates me. I have her "Elemental" and "the Visit" CDs, as well as a copy of the SF Live that Elwen graciously loaned me a while back. Her music is distinctly different from today's typical "pop" singers, and I really love listening to it when the radio is blasting absolute trash on occasion...  ~ Adara |

Loreena McKennit has a very unique quality that I fell in love with, and her lyrics are actually written with a point to make. I find that entertaining...
But yes - the radio does play horrible stuff on occasion... *shudder*

I recently translated one of her songs into elvish. The song was Dante's Prayer. It actually works quite well.
